Dundee High School has thrown its support behind the fundraising campaign for Sophie Parkinson.
The charity drive was launched by the family of the talented teenager, who was found dead at her home in Liff on March 1.
Almost £3,000 has been donated since the Sophie Parkinson Tribute Fund was formed last week.
The rector of the school, Dr John Halliday, said: “The fund is a wonderful tribute to the warm and caring individual that Sophie was. The NSPCC does a fantastic job in supporting young people in a range of ways and the school fully supports Craig and Ruth in their fundraising efforts.”
Sophie, 13, had used the NSPCC support service ChildLine during her life, and her mum Ruth and stepdad Craig want to raise £10,000 for the charity.
Craig, 38, said: “The way we see it, it’s a legacy for Sophie. We see this as just the beginning, there’s a number of things we’re looking at.
“And the school are looking at planting a tree or running an event.”
Sophie’s funeral was held in Central Baptist Church on Tuesday.
Craig said there had been some “overwhelming” tributes to the teenager at the service, which was attended by more than 300 people.
“It was extremely touching how kind people were on the day. It was a very personal, heartfelt tribute.”
