A businessman who was a witness at a trial at Dundee Sheriff Court more than three years ago has appeared in court charged with giving false evidence.
Mohammed Arshid, 58, of Seaforth Road, Broughty Ferry, denies that on November 25 2010, at Dundee Sheriff Court, having been sworn in as a witness at the trial of Mohammed Yasin, c/o Tayside Police, he deponed that he had not leased the premises known as Discovery Fish and Pizza Bar, 84 Nethergate, to Margaret Akhtar, c/o Tayside Police, the truth being that he had entered into a lease with her and leased the premises to her.
Solicitor Ian Reid, for Arshid, says he has a defence of alibi, stating he was in Pakistan when the lease for the fast food outlet was signed over.
Sheriff George Way continued the first diet until Monday.
