Scarlet fever confirmed in another Dundee primary school

Cases of scarlet fever have been confirmed at Hillside Primary School in Menzieshill.
It is understood that at least two pupils have come down with the illness, which has affected dozens of children at schools across the city in recent weeks.
A city council spokesman said: “In line with medical advice the school has issued a letter to all parents and families.
“They have been given guidance about contacting a health professional if they think their child has scarlet fever.
“The primary’s communication also stresses that any pupil with the condition should not attend school for at least 24 hours after they take their first medication.”
Scarlet fever is named for the distinctive skin rash it causes. It is usually a mild illness that clears up after treatment with antibiotics.
There has been an upsurge in the number of cases being reported across the UK this year.
