A Dundee man has been ordered to pay £500 compensation following an Angus pub assault.
Kristofer William Phillip, 27, of Balunie Avenue, admitted punching a man on the head to his injury at the Market Arms, Montrose, on December 19.
Arbroath Sheriff Court heard Phillip was on a work night out when “banter” got out of hand and he was asked to leave the pub.
Depute fiscal Hazel Anderson said Phillip had been speaking to one of the patrons when things took a turn for the worse.
A member of staff attempted to defuse the situation and led him out, but Phillip punched him in the face, leaving him with bruising and swelling around his right eye.
Solicitor Sandra Sutherland said her client was drunk and could remember nothing about what happened.
