Man who urinated on Ninewells A&E floor is ‘drinking himself to death’
ByThe Courier Reporter
A man who abused medical staff and urinated in A&E has been jailed after his own defence solicitor told a court prison was the best place for him.
Brian Morrison, 42, of Red Admiral Court, Dundee, was sentenced to a year in prison by Sheriff Hughes at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Morrison’s defence solicitor Ian Houston told the court jail was the best option as Morrison was “drinking himself to death.”
He said: “Prison is the best place for him, and hopefully that will break the cycle of drinking and save his life.”
Morrison was sentenced to six months for behaving in a threatening and abusive manner at A&E on November 29 when he urinated on the floor and acted aggressively towards medical staff.
He was sentenced to a further six months for beaches of bail, including breaking regulations of the secure accommodation he was ordered to reside at by repeatedly turning up drunk.
He will be sentenced for a further matter on August 4.
