An elderly Dundee woman is fighting for life in hospital after a car crash in the Highlands.
The 87-year-old was travelling on the A86 at Roy Bridge, Lochaber, when her Vauxhall Corsa left the road and collided with a tree at around 3.55pm on Sunday.
She was taken to Belford Hospital in Fort William with serious injuries and was later transferred by air ambulance to Ninewells.
Police confirmed her condition is currently described as “critical”.
A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We were called to a one-vehicle road accident and transported a woman with possible facial injuries to Belford Hospital in Fort William.”
The A86 is a major route in the Highlands linking the A9 to Fort William and Skye. Police have appealed for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.
A police spokesman said: “Police in Fort William are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision which occurred at 3.55pm on Sunday.
“The collision took place on the A86, Roy Bridge, near to the primary school, when a silver Vauxhall Corsa left the road. As a result, the elderly female driver sustained serious injuries.
“Police would like to speak to anyone who has any information about the incident. Any person who was travelling on the A86 around this time on Sunday and may have seen the Vauxhall Corsa is also asked to get in touch.
