People in Dundee have until next month to vote the city’s Waterfront “Scotland’s Best Place”.
The development project has been shortlisted in a competition being run by the Royal Town Planning Institute to mark its centenary and the winner will be decided by votes from the public.
The institute said: “The whole Waterfront development has been plan-led and carefully managed to ensure the highest quality.”
An 8km stretch from the harbour to Riverside has been earmarked for development.
“The planning process for the central Waterfront started in 1998 and resulted in a masterplan being issued in 2001.
“The masterplan remains in place today, and whilst it is sufficiently robust to continue to guide development, it also contained sufficient flexibility to accommodate the inevitable changing social, environmental and economic circumstances.”
The award recognises excellence in planning by highlighting places that have been built, improved or protected by the Scottish planning system.
Other locations on the shortlist include Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, the West Highland Way, Edinburgh’s Royal Mile and the Forth and Clyde Canal.
Institute president Cath Ranson said: “We’d like everyone to vote for their favourite place from this impressive and diverse shortlist.”
Voting is open until May 7 at www.rtpi.org.uk and the winner will be announced in June.
