A driver who crashed and injured three people after failing to clear his windscreen of frost has been disqualified for two years and placed on a community payback order.
Brian Rough, 52, of Harestane Road, Dundee, also admitted driving while more than twice the limit (93 mics) on Laird Street and failing to cooperate with police over a preliminary breath test.
He admitted he did not clear the front and side windows of his car on March 1, before driving carelessly and colliding with a car, injuring three males and damaging both cars.
Sentence had been deferred for reports and Sheriff George Way was told that, due to his financial position, Rough would not be in a position to pay a fine.
Solicitor Jim Caird said: “Mr Rough takes full responsibilty for this incident.
“His partner is very ill and requires regular hospital treatment and not having his car will impact severely on him.”
Sheriff Way said he had to reflect the very high reading but recognised that the report showed Rough had very little in the way of finance.
He told Rough: “This could have all been a lot worse. I think a period of supervision for a year is required.”
He also sentenced Rough to 80 hours’ unpaid work.
