Fat Sams Nightclub in Dundee has regained its licence to allow children and young teenagers into events at the club.
The city council’s licensing board unanimously agreed to allow the extension to their licence, which Fat Sams general manager Angus Robb said had “fallen off in error” after having previously been part of their licence for seven years without any problems.
The licence was granted with the condition that 14-18-year-olds will have to leave the premises at 11pm.
Mr Robb said alcohol would be served to over-18s, but security measures were in place to prevent under-18s from consuming alcohol on the premises.
Councillor Georgia Cruickshank asked whether 10pm would be a suitable time limit, but Mr Robb said that would be restrictive.
He said: “For example, if The View were playing, they are very attractive to a young audience and quite often if the band was late on stage it would stretch to half past ten, maybe quarter to eleven.”
Convener David Bowes moved the application should be granted with the condition that there was a curfew of 11pm.
Under the extension, children from the age of 11-17 can also attend under-18s discos and functions, but only until 10pm.
