Tayside’s football frenzy continues, with hundreds of Dundee United fans queuing up at Tannadice from 6am this morning to ensure they have tickets for the Scottish Cup final.
Today is the first day of general sales for the clash with St Johnstone on May 17.
The game takes place at Celtic Park in Glasgow, which has a capacity of 60,000.
A spokesman for Dundee United said: “We had queues when the season holder tickets went on sale and now the first day of the general sale they are queuing up around the corner again.
“There are upwards of a couple of hundred people in the queue.
“Supply will outstrip demand for this game but if the fans continue like this we are looking at having very good Dundee United support at the game.”
There have been similar scenes a few hundred yards up the road outside Dens this week as Dundee fans rushed to secure tickets for their big season finale Saturday’s Championship decider against Dumbarton.
For the first time in years, Dens Park has completely sold out after fans from near and far grabbed tickets to what has been described as Dundee’s biggest fixture in a decade.
St Johnstone fans have also been buying up their cup final tickets in their thousands, as Tayside enjoys one of the most exciting ends to a football season in living memory.
In all, fans have spent well over £1 million grabbing over 40,000 tickets in just a few days.
