John Swinney puts forward case for independence at Dundee University
ByThe Courier Reporter
John Swinney set out his case for Scottish independence at Dundee University’s Five Million Questions event.
The Finance Secretary was previously MP for North Tayside before taking the same seat in the Scottish Parliament and he enjoys the second highest vote in Scotland after First Minister Alex Salmond.
He is one of the ‘political heavyweights’ to visit the campus to field questions from the audience as part of the university’s initiative examining September’s independence referendum.
Former Scottish secretary Douglas Alexander took to the stage last week and Alistair Darling, leader of the Better Together campaign, will be speaking on May 22.
First Minister Alex Salmond is also confirmed for Tuesday June 3 although tickets are no longer available for his visit.
All events take place at the university’s Dalhousie Building and entry is free.
More information, including about how to obtain tickets, is available by visiting fivemillionquestions.org or calling 01382 381296.
