Owner ‘very sorry’ as Tayview Hotel in Dundee shuts down for ‘financial reasons’

The Tayview Hotel in Dundee has closed without warning.
Owner Helen Hill said she was extremely sorry to have to shut the doors of the public house and restaurant overlooking Broughty Ferry Road.
“The closure is for financial reasons in the difficult economic climate. I broke the news to staff today and I’m very sorry that this day has come,” she said.
Mrs Hill has run the Tayview for 19 years, the last six on her own following the death of her husband Stuart.
The couple bought the business from previous owner Ian Cameron.
“I and my late husband invested a lot of time, effort and money in the business but it has not been possible to keep it going,” she added.
The Tayview, which employed 10 full and part-time staff, has been on the market for a few months and she said some interest from potential buyers has been expressed.
