Firefighters battled a large blaze between Douglas and Whitfield on Monday evening after tyres were set alight.
Emergency services rushed to Piper Street, near Whitfield, at around 8.35pm after people in the area reported seeing thick black smoke rising from the area.
Two appliances from the Kingsway fire station used water jets for over two hours before the inferno was contained.
However, they remained at the scene for much of the night.Click here for a full photo galleryPolice were also called in to ensure that members of the public were kept a safe distance from the blaze, as scores of people gathered to watch firefighters in action.
No one was hurt in the fire and it is unclear if it was deliberately set.
However, the Scottish Fire and Rescue service recently reported that the number of deliberately set secondary fires – which includes the burning of rubbish and derelict property – was on the up in Dundee, with 556 recorded in the last 12 months.
