Just two short weeks ago we asked if you could put a smile back on little Lucy’s face.
Our heartfelt appeal came after the little girl lost her beloved cuddly rabbit during a shopping trip in Dundee.
It is our pleasure to report that the answer is, emphatically, yes.
We were inundated with offers of help possible sightings, links to the sale of similar soft toys on auction websites.
Leads were chased. Calls were made. It was a painstaking process when suddenly a dramatic breakthrough was reported.
A package had arrived at Lucy’s house. Within said package was a postcard.
So far so unremarkable.
But what’s this? The card appeared to show Rabbit relaxing on a beach.
Delving further into the package, Lucy realised that was not all far from it.
Nestling within was none other than Rabbit herself.
A bit cleaner, a bit fresher, but unmistakably Rabbit.
Days of agony and upset were at an end the smile was at last returned to Lucy’s little face.
The happy ending came courtesy of some lovely people at Marks & Spencer.
Alerted to the two-year-old’s plight they procured a replacement toy (but don’t tell Lucy!) and penned the postcard which explained Rabbit had merely been away for a break.
Pressed for a quote for the waiting media, Lucy said: “Rabbit been on holiday.”
Hence the most delightful of endings to what could have been a desperate tale.
Many thanks to all who got in touch and ensured it is a case of a happily ever after for Lucy and her beloved Rabbit.
