Ron Bonar Beer Festival gets under way in Broughty Ferry
ByThe Courier Reporter
The 15th annual Ron Bonar Beer Festival takes place at the Fisherman’s Tavern in Broughty Ferry this weekend.
The three-day event starts at 3.30pm on Friday and features a barbecue and a host of great bands and beers.
More than 30 cask ales will be on offer, along with Continental beers and Scottish cider.
Festival organiser Ewan Ross said: “It’s always a busy weekend for the Fish and for Broughty Ferry in general.
“The fact that the festival is in its 15th year speaks volumes of the success of the event. Every penny we make goes to the Broughty Ferry lifeboat, which is the busiest lifeboat crew in Scotland.
“So far we have raised around £130,000, which is brilliant.”
Ewan praised the continued backing of the pub’s owners, Belhaven, and added that the support of local businesses goes a long way to helping with the success of the event, with more than 40 of them sponsoring casks of beer.
The music kicks off at 5.30pm on Friday. Entry is free, with tickets costing £5 on Saturday and Sunday.
