Changes to the roads at Dundee’s Waterfront have taken another step forward with the opening of a new ramp at the Tay road bridge.
Traffic arriving in the city from Fife and travelling east is now taken directly on to East Dock Street, rather than travelling in a western loop via South Marketgait.
A new set of traffic lights has also been switched on near the bottom of Commercial Street to allow for traffic exiting the bridge.
Councillor Will Dawson, city development convener, said: “The roads themselves haven’t really changed it’s the way the bridge is accessed and exited from that’s the main change.
“The new traffic lights close to Commercial Street are up and running, and the filter system to let traffic off the bridge is running as well,” he said.
“That’s one of the final ramp positions where the traffic will come off the Tay bridge and come out to the right, just at East Dock Street at Commercial Street.
“We’ve still got to get rid of the remains of the buildings down there, because there are still bits of Tayside House, the Olympia and the casino to go,” he added.
