A woman who spat on another woman while on a bus was sentenced at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Ruth Smith, 26, from Forfar, had previously pleaded guilty at trial to assaulting the woman by spitting at her on board a National Express number 20 bus on September 6 last year.
The service was travelling along Forfar Road in Dundee at the time.
Smith, of Craig O’Loch Road, also admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting, swearing and uttering offensive comments during the incident.
Sheriff Richard Macfarlane told Smith the fact she committed the offence on a public vehicle was an aggravating factor.
He said: “Just seeing the complainer boarding the bus, you approached her in a thoroughly unladylike and certainly unlawful behaviour.”
He sentenced Smith to a community payback order with 12 months of supervision and 115 hours of unpaid work to be completed within six months.
