Broughty Castle was lit up on Thursday night with three of Scotland’s top Commonwealth hopefuls, including Dundonian Eilish McColgan.
Film of local athlete Eilish, as well as Laura Muir and Libby Clegg, will be projected onto the 16th century landmark.
Eilish is a member of Dundee’s Hawkhill Harriers, and the daughter of former 10,000m World Champion Liz McColgan.
She is representing Scotland in the 3,000m steeplechase and has already represented Team GB in London in the same event.
Eilish said: “The support which I’ve received throughout my career from local people has been fantastic and I aim to do everyone at Dundee Hawkhill Harriers proud at the games.
“Being able to compete at a major championships in front of a home crowd is an ambition of every athlete so I feel privileged to be lining up at Glasgow 2014.”
Laura is a former Hawkhill Harriers member and a student in vetrinary medicine at Glasgow University.
She is ranked number one in the UK over 800m and recently ran a lifetime best time of 4:02:91 for the 1,500m at an event in the Netherlands.
Libby won silver at the London 2012 Paralympics in the T12 100m and a World Championship silver in 2013.
Libby is registered blind as she suffers from a deteriorating eye condition known as Stargard’s Muscular Dystrophy, giving her only slight vision in her left eye.
Libby said: “The atmosphere when I competed at London 2012 was incredible, but running in front of a passionate Scottish crowd will be even better.”
The projection marks the beginning of Commonwealth events, with the Queen’s Baton Relay passing through Courier Country next weekend.
