A Dundee man has been banned from attending football matches after setting off a smoke bomb at the Scottish Cup clash between Rangers and Dundee United in April.
Cameron McGregor, 22, was given a two-year Football Banning Order and a £400 fine for the offence, which took place at Ibrox stadium on April 12.
McGregor pled guilty to a charge of culpable and reckless conduct after he was observed lighting the smoke bomb, holding it aloft and throwing it on to the pitch from the top tier.
He was sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday.
Stephen Ferguson, football liaison prosecutor for the west of Scotland, said: “Smoke bombs and other uncontrolled pyrotechnic devices have no place at football matches and this was a particularly irresponsible act that could well have caused injury to others present at this game.
“The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service takes a zero-tolerance approach to this kind of reckless behaviour and will continue to prosecute those who indulge in it.”
