Evangelical Alliance Scotland holds independence referendum debate in Dundee
ByKieran Andrews
Religious issues will be brought together with the independence referendum tonight in Dundee as former SNP leader Gordon Wilson and Labour MSP Jenny Marra go head to head at a debate.
The event is part of a series of hustings organised by the Evangelical Alliance Scotland that will see a number of candidates face each other and the public throughout the country in the run-up to September’s vote.
Mr Wilson and Ms Marra will face off at 7.30pm in St Peter’s Free Church. Also speaking will be Christians for Independence member and SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch Dave Thompson, and another Better Together representative yet to be confirmed.
All members of the public are invited to the free meeting.
The Evangelical Alliance said the debate is part of a Seven Cities Tour to provide the opportunity for politicians to answer burning questions from evangelical Christians across the country.
Last month the alliance released its referendum manifesto What Kind of Nation? calling on politicians to broaden the debate from its narrow economic focus and allow the views of ordinary people to be heard on issues of poverty, welfare and investment incentives for the wealthy.
