A driver who fled the scene of an accident was later found with £180 worth of heroin up his bottom, a court heard.
Scott Thomas Curtis, 23, of Perth Road, Dundee, was found in possession of the drug after running into the back of another car at traffic lights and driving away.
He appeared at the city’s sheriff court on Monday, after previously admitting failing to stop after the accident, which occurred on the Coupar Angus Road at 4.30pm on June 9.
He also admitted driving without due care and attention by failing to observe the distance between his car and the car in front, as well as driving without insurance.
Depute fiscal Keith Robertson told the court that the witness’s car stopped at the traffic lights when they changed to amber but the accused’s vehicle carried on going, crashing into the back of the witness.
The witness’s car suffered damage to the bumper and the driver managed to take down the registration and make of Curtis’s vehicle as it sped away over the South Road roundabout and along Coupar Angus Road.
When police attended the home of the registered keeper, Curtis’s mother, she told them she had not been driving and Curtis was arrested. At police headquarters a full search was carried out.
Mr Robertson said: “A cling-film wrap containing brown powder was found. The accused had attempted to conceal this in his anus. It was found to be diamorphine with a value of £180.”
Curtis also admitted possession of diamorphine and defence solicitor Kevin Hampton said he had been holding on to the drug for someone else.
Sheriff Elizabeth Munro deferred sentence until July 31 to allow Curtis to continue with unpaid work previously ordered by the court.
