A man leapt out of a 40ft window and broke his ankle after a another threatened to stab him, Dundee Sheriff Court has heard.
Frederick Thomson went to his former partner’s house in Lilybank Terrace in an attempt to reconcile with her, but flew into a rage when he found a man’s clothes in her bedroom.
Thomson, 22, of King Street, Broughty Ferry, admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner towards his ex-partner and a man who was in her house on August 3, 2013.
The court heard his ex-girlfriend had asked her male friend to hide in another bedroom with a female friend when she realised Thomson was at the door.
Depute fiscal Laura Bruce said Thomson’s ex-partner had ended the relationship about a week before the incident.
When Thomson and his former partner entered the bedroom there were male clothes in the room and he became agitated, asking if there was another man in the house. He then went downstairs, picked up a knife and threatened to harm himself if his ex-partner did not reconcile with him.
The court heard the female friend came downstairs and got involved in the argument and the male friend remained upstairs.
When Thomson found him he started making threats that he was going to slash the man and went to look for the knife.
When the other man heard Thomson coming back up the stairs, he leapt from the window and broke his ankle.
Defence solicitor Brian Cooney said Thomson was sorry and sentence was deferred for reports.
Sheriff McNair granted Thomson bail, but said that was no indication of what the final sentence would be when he comes back on August 21.
