Preparations for the World War One At Home Tour have begun for commemorations on Friday and Saturday.
Dundee is the only Scottish city being visited by the roadshow.
The Great War Dundee Partnership and the BBC are working together to deliver a free, family-friendly commemorative event in City Square throughout Friday and Saturday.
The event will aim to teach people, especially younger ones, about the First World War.
Commemorations will aim to create a wider understanding of the contributions Dundee made to the war, as well as the toll taken by the conflict on the city.
Actor Larry Lamb will host the Briefing Room in the Caird Hall, presenting a series of talks with expert contributors, including historian Paul Murton, covering a range of First World War topics.
Mr Lamb said: “I’m delighted to be taking part in World War Onecommemorative events around the UK this summer.
“I’ll be talking to a host of well-known faces from the world of journalism, literature, and television, and together with a panel of local experts we will discover what life was like during this unforgettable conflict.”
Caroline Brown, of Dundee University Archives, said: “One of our main aims is to encourage a greater understanding of what life was like for both those involved and those who stayed at home.”
Visitors will find a variety of activities at the event, for all ages. The Imperial War Museum will help visitors explore their own relatives’ connections to the conflict, and children are invited to take part in a ‘spy quest’.
There will be workshops about communication and medicine.
The Great War Dundee Partnership, comprised of many organisations, will be in the Marryat and Ashton halls to talk about the role of Dundee in the conflict.
There will be archives, artefacts from the war, letters, diaries and journals. Sheena Wellington and the Wighton Singers will share songs from the war.
