Miss Pearson was born and raised in Kirkcaldy and spent the early part of her adult life earning a living from her sewing skills. She emigrated to Rhodesia at the age of 50 to be close to her brother, who had already gone to live in what is now Zimbabwe. After a decade she returned to Scotland and settled in Dundee. She moved to North Erskine Street and latterly, Fleming Gardens. She later moved to Balcarres Care Home in Broughty Ferry, where she passed away.
