The misery for commuters caught in rush hour tailbacks on the Tay Road Bridge is expected to end by next week.
Roadworks restricting the north bound carriageway to a single lane have been causing long queues as far as the Forgan roundabout at the Fife end for almost two weeks.
Contractors Sir Robert McAlpine took a break for Easter but now the works are back again.
The traffic on the bridge was heavy from around 7.40am and only cleared at around 10am on Wednesday.
A spokesman for the Tay Bridge said: “There is just a few hundred yards left to go and it is expected to take just a couple of days.
“The bridge has been very busy and the tailbacks have been right back into Fife.”
The lane closure is to allow resurfacing to be completed safely after the north side ramps were reconfigured to tie in with the Dundee Waterfront.
