Celebration of Coldside Parish Church refurbishment
ByAndrew Argo
Coldside Parish Church has celebrated a £650,000 refurbishment.
The community saw the results at an open day on Saturday, and there was a rededication service for the Main Street place of worship, which was attended by Lord Provost Bob Duncan and the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Right Rev John Chalmers, on Sunday.
The congregation dug deep to bring state-of-the-art facilities to one of Dundee’s poorer areas.
The renovation works at the Category C listed building involved substantial external repairs and modernisation. There is also a new multimedia system, revamped heating and lighting as well as new toilets, improved disabled facilities and redecoration.
The Rev Tony Thornthwaite said it is an exciting time for the changing church, which he hopes will become a community hub for all ages, backgrounds and ethnicities.
