A Dundee councillor insists he understands drivers’ “frustration” at getting caught in roadworks on two major city roads.
Part of Lochee Road is closed southbound, causing periods of slow-moving traffic and tailbacks for more than a week.
Meanwhile, Riverside Drive is down to one lane between the city centre and Tesco, causing queues at peak times.
Lochee councillor Alan Ross says he recognises that people are getting caught up in the works but insists they are necessary.
He said: “I’ve noticed, through being on buses from Lochee, that there is a bit of a hold up, and I understand the frustration it can cause.
“The area has long had an issue with traffic build ups anyway which is something we are looking into and it goes without saying that closing roads compounds this.
“However, the works being done are essential and I think most people realise that the added hold ups are temporary and take alternative routes.”
Taxi driver Craig Middleton said: “It can be pretty frustrating down there at the moment.
“You can get held up for longer than normal, which is annoying, but not the end of the world.
“But when you have a fare at the train station for example, it can cause a bit of a delay, which doesn’t help anyone.”
