Thieves targeted a home in Dundee’s Lochee area and made off with a lion.
The 15-kilo stone statue was taken from the garden of hairdresser Lorraine Milne’s house on Sharps Lane.
Lorraine, 44, initially thought it had been taken by friends as a prank, but soon discovered it would not be returning.
That came as a blow to Lorraine, as the statue was sculpted for her by a stonemason as a memorial to a family pet.
Though the ginger kitten was smaller in stature, she said it had always been known by her and son Cameron, 18, as “the lion”.
Lorraine said she’d decided against contacting the police as they had “more pressing things” to be dealing with, but has appealed for help to trace the statue.
“I will keep looking for it and hope I’ll see it again,” she said.
“If this is a drunken prank then please hand it back.
“It’s not about the money, it is the sentimental value.”
