Born in Birmingham, he qualified with a small practice and moved to Ernst and Young with whom he became a manager. In five years out of the profession when he sold computers to accountants, he was sent to Scotland and settled in Perth. He later returned to accountancy and in 1984 joined the practice of Richard Walker, which became Walker Dunnett. Andy Walker took over from his father 13 years ago, and he now becomes senior partner of the company which will keep its name. “I am 65 and it is time for me to move on after a career which has seen many changes,” Mr Dunnett said. “One of the main ones is computerisation which has made things like management accounts and cash flow forecasts much quicker.” Mr Dunnett is replaced as a partner and team head by South African Danie van Niekerk who is originally from Cape Town and now lives in Carnoustie. In total, Walker Dunnett & Co employs a team of 30 people in Dundee and Carnoustie.
