A man who was charged in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a 17-year-old woman in Dundee city centre has been released.
The 18-year-old was arrested and charged by police on Friday following the alleged attack on a woman in the car park at Lidl supermarket on South Ward Road.
It was reported that the incident had happened in the early hours of April 26.
The teenager was due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court.
However, the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service have confirmed that the case did not call and that the man has now been released from custody after “full and careful consideration”.
But it could be raised again at a later stage.
A spokesman for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service said: “The procurator fiscal at Dundee has received a report concerning an 18-year-old male in connection with alleged incidents on April 26 2015.
“After full and careful consideration of the report, the accused was liberated from custody and did not appear in court.
“The case remains under consideration by the procurator fiscal.”
The alleged sexual assault sparked a major police investigation in the hours after it was reported.
An area close to the shop, which has a number of pubs and clubs nearby, was sealed off as forensics and scenes of crimes officers carried out their investigations.
A cordon around the area remained in place for most of the day following the alleged attack. Officers said they were carrying out “extensive inquiries”.
