Three Dundee men are among a group of six to stand trial accused of being part of a nationwide cannabis distribution ring.
Alexander Chaplin, Barry Jeffrey and Michael Chaplin are all said to have been involved in dealing the class B drug over a period of more than a year.
The illicit trade is said to have encompassed locations in Dundee, in Perthshire and in the Scottish Borders.
The trio were joined in the dock at Dundee Sheriff Court by 75-year-old Denis McAinsh and James McGing of Glasgow for a pre-trial hearing.
A warrant was granted for the arrest of Dean Holmes after he failed to turn up at the court.
All six face an allegation that between August 1 2013 and September 19 2014, at addresses in Dundee, the M90 near Glenfarg, Perthshire, Berwick Railway Station and elsewhere, they were concerned in the supply of cannabis.
Alexander Chaplin and Dean Holmes face a further charge of producing cannabis at addresses in Dundee between November 1 2013 and July 30 2014.
Jeffrey is further accused of being concerned in the supply of cocaine between August 1 2013 and August 12 2014 at addresses in Dundee.
Alexander Chaplin, 51, of Melfort Place, Dundee; McAinsh, 75, of Garthland Drive, Glasgow; Jeffrey, 32, of Wedderburn Street, Dundee; Michael Chaplin, 50, of Kirkton Place, Dundee; and McGing, 50, of Drumpellier Avenue, Glasgow, all pleaded not guilty to the charges on indictment.
Holmes, 46, of Dudhope Terrace, Dundee, failed to appear to face the indictment.
Paul Parker Smith, representing Jeffrey, reflected the scale and complexity of the case when he told the court: “The productions in this case amount to some 1,572 pages.”
The case has been continued to a further hearing next week.
