A motorist from Dundee has been jailed for driving offences at the age of 78.
Richard Robertson, of Linton Road, was sentenced at Dundee Sheriff Court to six months behind bars and disqualified from driving for 10 years after admitting two charges.
Robertson admitted driving a car while disqualified on March 23 at various roads in Dundee, including Lochee High Street and Coupar Angus Road.
He further admitted driving without insurance on the same date and location.
The court heard Robertson had a significant record for driving offences and that he had been given numerous chances by the court.
Sheriff Tom Hughes said: “It is very unfortunate that someone of your age is going to prison but you have left the court no option since you continually flout the law.
“You have been caught on many road traffic offences and should know by now that you should not be anywhere near a vehicle.”
A neighbour of Robertson said they had noticed roads police in the area in the weeks before his latest conviction.
