A 45-year-old Dundee nurse has died in India only days after flying there to meet her new boyfriend.
Married mother-of-three Angela Slinn, who was estranged from her husband Stephen, travelled to the country to see Jasper Singh, 30, whom she had met on Facebook.
But she died on Sunday after contracting acute pneumonia.
Mrs Slinn, who was originally from Dundee and studied at St Andrews University, lived in Crewe and had three children – Natasha 21, Joseph 16, and 15-year-old Nathan.
Mr Singh told the Daily Mail that he believed the hot Indian weather may have killed her.
He said: “I had to tell her daughter her mother had died. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do.
“I still cannot believe she is no more. How can she die? She was a healthy person. I am still in shock, I just cannot believe what has happened.”
Mr Singh said he had started chatting to Mrs Slinn on Facebook a year ago and they had subsequently spoken over Skype.
He said: “In January this year she told me she wanted to meet me, but I told her it was cold so to wait a while.
“And then when she told me she wanted to come in May she booked her tickets before I could tell her it was very hot in May. She just booked her tickets.”
A week after arriving in India, Mrs Slinn developed a mild fever and bad throat. She was admitted to hospital but died of multiple organ failure the next day.
