Former Dundee barber Alex Graham died peacefully at home on Saturday at the age of 84.
Alex and his wife Bette, both originally of Dunfermline, moved to Dundee in 1955 to start his gentleman’s hairdressing business.
He ran a successful shop on Victoria Road and introduced his daughter Lee to the trade before moving premises to King Street, where he continued to work until his retirement in 1990.
Lee took over the business and has since moved to Broughty Ferry where the shop still proudly displays her father’s name in the window.
Even after his retirement Mr Graham could still be seen at times sweeping the floor and chatting to customers old and new.
In retirement, Mr Graham enjoyed golfing at the Broughty Golf Club in Monifieth, bowling and days out with family and friends in the local coffee shops.
He suffered a fall in August last year and his health deteriorated since then.
He is survived by his wife Bette, daughter Lesley and grandson Nathan, daughter Lee and partner Grant.
His funeral will take place at Dundee crematorium at 12.30pm on Thursday.
All friends are respectively invited to attend, but his family have requested no flowers.
