Crime and disorder could be reduced after plans to move the beer garden at Dundee University union were approved.
Dundee City Council’s licensing committee has given the go-ahead for the Dundee University Student Association (DUSA) to close the beer garden at Balfour Street and move it to the chill-out area at the top of Airlie Place.
The committee heard the area is used by the DUSA nightclub, which is closer to the venue and therefore easier to supervise.
The union was also successful in extending the operating hours of the area to 3am in line with the nightclub opening hours.
According to DUSA, the move has been something that customers have been asking for as the beer garden’s old location does not have easy access to toilets.
