Three illicit Traveller encampments across Dundee have drawn ire from communities.
An emcampment by the Ice Arena is causing the most conflict, with residents complaining of piles of rubbish building up.
Resident Brian Brown said the area around Camperdown Park has been turned into a dumping ground for waste, gas bottles and human excrement.
He said: “It started with a few dumped gas bottles, but since then there’s just no respect. It’s become a complete dumping ground and the pile of mess just gets bigger and bigger.
“There was a group there not long ago and they kept piling it up and now it’s happening again.
“A lot of it looks like garden waste, so they must be working in the area on people’s gardens.
“It’s a beautiful area completely spoiled by them again and again.”
Dundee City Council recently revealed it has spent more than £100,000 in the last year cleaning up illicit Traveller sites.
Two other camps, one at Drumgeith park behind Happyhillock Road and one behind Douglas Medical Centre, have also been heavily criticised by residents, as it is believed the official council-run site at Tealing has spaces.
Councillor Brian Gordo said: “The Travellers appear determined to stay through the summer.”
