A 30-year-old man who threw a glass ashtray at a woman holding a child was jailed for 36 months.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard Mark Taylor, of Canning Place, Dundee, was found guilty after trial of three charges of assault, all of which took place at a property in the city.
He was found guilty of assaulting the woman, while she was holding a child, by throwing a glass ashtray at her, which struck her on the head and thereafter struck a wall.
The court heard that the ashtray broke and pieces of it struck the child on the head, all to the injury of the woman, and to the injury and permanent disfigurement of the child, on December 4 2011.
Taylor was further found guilty of a second charge of assaulting the same woman by pushing her on the body, causing her to fall, and thereafter repeatedly striking her on the body with a table leg, all to her injury, on February 3 2012.
And he was found guilty of a third charge of assaulting another woman by striking her on the body with a table leg, also on February 3 2012.
