Travellers illegally occupying a Dundee park have been throwing stones and intimidating children trying to play during the summer holidays, according to a resident.
Stephen Innes lives close to Mill O’ Mains Park, where an illegal Travellers’ encampment was established over the weekend.
He alleged his children, aged from five to 14, had been pelted with stones thrown by the Travellers’ children when they tried to enter the park.
He said: “The kids can’t get in to play and they are now threatening the kids. My kids had stones thrown at them on Sunday to keep them away.
“They’ve parked all around the park so people feel intimidated to walk through. They are sitting sunning themselves not even caring that our kids can’t play in the park during the summer.”
The Travellers’ camp has at least three gazebos and a barbecue.
There is also various machinery and a van bearing the company name Kestrel Driveways.
Mr Innes said he was also frustrated with Dundee City Council.
He claimed: “We all know the council will end up cleaning up after they leave.”
A city council spokesman said: “We have started the legal process to have the Travellers removed from Mill O’ Mains Park.”
A police spokeswoman said they had received no reports of stone throwing or incidents in the park.
