Weekly bin collections to be cut across parts of Dundee
ByMark Mackay
Weekly refuse collections will be altered across large parts of Dundee from November.
They ceased in parts of Broughty Ferry and the West End in March in a bid to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.
Now Dundee City Council has decided to push ahead with phase two of the “enhanced recycling scheme”, expanding it to a host of new communities.
They will include Menzieshill, Charleston and Lochee, together with even more of the West End and parts of the city centre, with around 12,000 homes affected.
West End Councillor Fraser Macpherson who opposed the shift to fortnightly collections said the first few weeks could prove chaotic if environment chiefs do not liaise closely with communities.
The changes will also provide many households with access to extensive recycling facilities for the first time.
