Dundee’s Olympic star Liz McColgan is now teaching the Qatari royal family to run.
Liz, 51, has moved to the oil-rich golf state where she runs a children’s athletics club whose attendees include three children from the Al Thani monarchy.
Her daughter Eilish, 24, has told of how the toddlers are constantly minded by bodyguards during their training with the Dundee star in Doha.
Eilish said: “I met the youngest, Hammad, and at the age of five he lives a life I can’t even begin to imagine.
“The guard comes in a few minutes before the session starts to check the track and surroundings.
“He then takes Hammad down to join in with the session but stays to watch.”
McColgan moved out to Doha after marrying 48-year-old John Nuttall.
She won gold in the 10,000m at the Tokyo world championships in 1991, as well as silver at the 1988 Olympic Games.
On moving to Qatar, she said: “When I went around schools in Doha, I saw there were a lot of enthusiastic kids but not the opportunity to do athletics.”
