Fears flights at Dundee Airport could be put at risk by Travellers’ site

Flights at Dundee Airport could be put at risk by Travellers setting up illicit encampments on Riverside Drive, it has been claimed.
As half-a-dozen caravans arrived at the waterfront road this week, aviation chiefs warned they were “concerned” that any rubbish left by the group could blow into flight paths and attract seagulls.
Low-flying birds can be sucked into aircraft engines and are viewed as one of the primary risks to flights.
Airport bosses said they would be keeping a close eye on potential rubbish at the site although a member of the Traveller group insisted they would clean up after themselves.
The fears came as it emerged Dundee City Council had struck a deal with another group of Travellers to allow them to stay at Jack Martin Way.
