Travellers who occupied a site on Riverside Drive have left and cleaned up their mess.
The group of around 12 vehicles had been on the site since the weekend but have now moved on.
Fears had been raised that any mess left by the group could attract seagulls and potentially impact on flight safety at Dundee Airport. Aviation experts consider low-flying flocks of birds to be one of the primary risks to flights.
Airport bosses had said they were monitoring the situation, but their concerns appear to have been allayed after the group cleaned up.
The news comes after the council’s housing convener announced a new approach to dealing with the problem of illicit encampments. A number of Traveller sites have sprung up across the city this summer, sparking anger from residents.
But SNP councillor John Alexander said: “As previously set out, the approach taken for decades has failed to make any headway on this issue.
“We will continue to seek legal action on sites that are clearly inappropriate, such as pavilions, football pitches and public parks.
“On a purely pragmatic and sensible basis, the industrial location at Jack Martin Way is preferable to previous locations at Caird Park, Camperdown and Mill o’ Mains I don’t think there can be any argument against that.”
