‘I just don’t want to suffer like this any more’ Dundee man’s anxious wait for surgery goes on

A Dundee man faces an anxious wait for surgery after being diagnosed with heart failure.
Robert Fisher can barely walk to the shops and is forced to sleep sitting in a chair, with the 56-year-old unable to breathe properly when lying down.
The Mid Craigie man said doctors at Ninewells Hospital had hoped to fit him with a pacemaker yesterday but was later told that no surgeons would be available for another three to four weeks.
Mr Fisher is now worried that his health might deteriorate during that time.
“At the start of the week, the doctors said that I’d been through enough already and they wanted to do it this week, but on Tuesday they said they had bad news and no one was available,” he said.
“At the moment I haven’t got a life. I just don’t want to suffer like this any more.”
An NHS Tayside spokeswoman said clinicians are “making the necessary arrangements” to schedule the procedure as soon as possible.
