Constitution Road development would bring new cinema to central Dundee

Dundee will get a new cinema if plans to redevelop a former college building are approved.
An application to build more than 100 flats, as well as a caf and gym, at the Constitution Road site will go before councillors next Monday.
The project is being brought forward by Edinburgh-based firm Whiteburn Projects.
City planners have recommended approval of the development, which will create 110 flats.
According to the application the cinema will be built in a former lecture theatre in the college building. In a report to councillors, which will be presented to the city’s development management committee on August 17, planners said: “The application proposes the creation of a small-to-medium sized cafe … as well as a cinema within the existing lecture theatre.”
The area has been empty since Dundee College left in 2011 and since then the site has been a target for vandals and thieves.
