Dundee family return home from holiday to find heirlooms stolen
ByThe Courier Reporter
A Dundee family have had their home ransacked by thieves stealing valuable jewellery and electronic goods.
Andrew Turner, wife Morag and their children were enjoying a break in Perthshire when the robbers broke in to the house on Peterburn Terrace in Gowrie Park.
They smashed the window of the back door to gain entry and then rifled through cupboards and drawers in the house, stealing sentimental pieces of jewellery and items including a Kindle eReader and two Nexus tablets.
Andrew, 40, said: “What they stole from me can be replaced, but the jewellery they stole from my wife was of real sentimental value.
“They were her wedding ring and pieces of jewellery which her gran passed down to her.”
The break-in happened between 8am last Monday and 8am the next day. After talking to his neighbours, Andrew learned that a man had been knocking doors in the area and was acting suspiciously.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and urged anyone with information to contact the force on 101.
