Dundee University rector Brian Cox said he wants to finish what he started and see the V&A come to fruition.
Speaking to The Courier about his decision to stand for selection to the post again, Mr Cox said: “The stuff I have done over the last few years I just want to be able to finish.
“I would like to see the V&A which is ongoing and we have a lot going on with tuition and student welfare.
“It takes more time than you think, especially when you are part-time.
“I’m not always in the country that much but as rector I have just been involved in certain things that I want to see through.”
He said as well as his work as rector, he has hopes of being around to see his home city develop further.
He said: “I want to see the V&A up and running. That would be the cream on the coffee.”
Although with regard to his retirement plans, Mr Cox said he was far from finished with his acting career.
He said: “I shouldn’t think I’d be retiring any time soon. I’ll probably keep going until I drop.”
