Two men are to stand trial accused of threatening to cut out a man’s eye and chop off his ear and a finger during a brutal robbery.
Dale Reidie and Mark Nelson are alleged to have attacked Graeme Rankin at an address on Dundee’s Seafield Road.
The pair are said to have grabbed him, pushed him on to a bed and repeatedly punched and kicked him before choking him.
They are then said to have presented a “sharp instrument” at him and threatened to cut out his eye.
Prosecutors say they then searched through his property and demanded he hand over drugs before overturning furniture and ordering him into the living room.
There the pair are alleged to have pushed Mr Rankin on to a settee, presented a pair of wire cutters at him and threatened to cut off a finger.
Then they are accused of boiling a kettle of water and sugar in his presence and jumping on him before cutting his ear with the wirecutters and threatening to cut off his ear.
Reidie, 34, of Spey Drive, Dundee, and Nelson, 35, of Crichton Street, Dundee, deny a charge of assaulting Mr Rankin to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement and robbing him of a quantity of diazepam, a mobile phone battery and cash.
The attack is said to have taken place on November 22 2013. Sheriff George Way continued the case until next week to a further pre-trial hearing.
