Two elderly women have spoken of the “terrifying” moment they were attacked by a pack of dogs in Dundee.
The pair were strolling across a grassy area next to the city’s Emmock Road, at the back of Fintry near the A90, when they were set upon by up to eight small dogs.
One of the women suffered cuts and bruises while the other escaped injury.
The injured woman, aged 72, said she believes the dogs could have killed someone smaller and younger.
She said: “We were walking along when around eight dogs came running across and started attacking our legs.
“I was bitten all down one side and I have got bruises all over my leg.
“The whole thing lasted about 10 minutes and I have never been so frightened in my life.
“If I fell and the dogs went for my neck I would have been dead by now.
“If it was a young child they could have been killed, too.
“It was a very dangerous situation. I had to go to hospital to get the wounds cleaned up and I have to go back to get them checked out again.”
The two women said they visited Longhaugh Police Station and reported the incident to an officer there, who vowed to have the dog wardens look into the attack.
The woman’s friend said they had both been left shaken by the attack, but insisted that the outcome could have been much worse.
The pensioner fears that someone else could be subjected to a similar attack if the animals are not kept under control.
She added: “These dogs could attack again if nothing is done.”
The incident happened last Thursday afternoon at 3.30.
