Budding writer impresses Warhorse author in international competition
ByThe Courier Reporter
Young author Ben Luca Frattaroli has been given the nod by best-selling author Michael Morpurgo in a writing competition.
The seven-year-old, whose mother Elizabeth is a member of Angus Writers’ Circle, entered a short story in to the international Mane Chance writing competition and was the youngest person to be placed.
Ben took third in the under-10s category, judged by the War Horse author, and is set to join meetings of the circle himself once he gets to stay up that late!
The Forthill Primary School pupil was thrilled by the result.
He said: “I’m so happy that they liked my story and can’t wait to tell my teacher.
“When I first wrote it, she read it out in class and everyone clapped.”
Mrs Frattaroli said: “He’s already desperate to attend Angus Writers’ Circle with me, and I’m sure in a few years’ time the group will be welcoming him as our youngest member yet.”
The group meets at the Rosely Hotel, Arbroath, and new members are welcome.
