Vulnerable people will be at less risk of being the victims of accidental fires thanks to a new training scheme for carers. Martin Tait, of the Fire and Rescue service said many people who are involved in fires are known to other agencies, like the health service. A new training programme to be rolled out to all health care staff will help them better identify people who could be at risk. Mr Tait said: “The people at high risk are elderly people living on their own who might also have a health condition. “If we can work on prevention we can have less house fires and avoid putting firefighters at risk as well.” The e-module was launched at Kingsway Care Centre.
